This premier skin care salon is a standout for so many reasons I never wanted to review it on Yelp. It's taken me four months to do so because most of my family has been here and we all love our healthy, glowing skin. My husband asked me not to write this for fear that Rene' would get so busy she wouldn't have time for us. But.. Rene asked me if I might so here goes...

Before relocating to NoVA, Rene' operated a high end salon in L.A. She's worked on actresses, celebrities and people who prioritize skin care whether they need to or just want to. Rene's stand out qualities are her gregarious personality, incomparable knowledge and most importantly - she loves what she does. I don't know about you but I want an esthetician who loves her line of work.
In an area where a microdermabrasion add-on price of $85 and up is the norm, Rene' charges a fraction of that. She also offers a west coast item called the Microdermabrasion Infusion, it's my newest addiction, also for a fraction of the cost.
(MI is the process of infusing serum back into your skin via a cool water jet after a peel and microderm to cool it down, plump it up a bit and generally just make your skin glow.)
Spa Lavender offers a natural, four layer algae mask that is so affordable my kids get them. All of these relaxing components make up a Rene' Krow facial but it's not complete without the hot stone neck, shoulder & arm massage. Most of the products used in the relaxing SL salon are from Astara. This is a natural skin care line that is raw - nothing is heated over 105 degrees - and it works. I reviewed the product line months ago and our family uses it daily.

I'd like to consider myself a 'spa enthusiast" or "connoisseur" because I love to escape to a spa experience whether it's at a day spa or an all-inclusive resort. Therefore, based on this, I feel that I am properly equipped to provide an accurate review of this amazing business. I was blown away by my experience at Spa Lavender. Here's why...(forgive me for the length; I have a lot to comment on)
1. Everyone craves that extra special attention from a doctor, esthetician, hair stylist, nail tech, etc. We all wish that someone would take their time to get to know us, and remember us. Then, every time you see that certain someone they treat you as if you're their only patient/client. It's like you don't even have to explain what is ailing you or what you're looking for because they know already, and know what you need. This is Rene Krow. She carefully evaluated my skin on my first visit, and proceeded to explain her thoughts, recommendations and therapy plans.
2. I don't even know the full name of the type of facial that I received because there were so many incredibly amazing steps. I thought to myself, "wow...she must really like me because she's going the extra mile!" Well, I was wrong. All of the steps (including the masks, micro and massage) were part of the package I purchased. I used to live in Los Angeles, and paid upwards of $300+ for a "facial with the works." Rene's rate card is so reasonable and worth every penny (and more). I wouldn't flinch if she raises her prices because it's worth it.
3. I'm used to estheticians politely asking about my life, family and hobbies. And, then slowly easing her/his way into my skin care regime. Their hope is to sell me elements from the line that the spa carries (which was probably not chosen by skincare experts), and which are marked up 300%. Rene has hand-selected a variety of products, and only endorses them after she uses them on herself to see how effective they are. Her line features products that are either organic or all natural, or paraben-free, etc. She cares about the quality of skincare that she endorses. She uses a lot of products from Astara, of which have delivered results in one session that no other high-end skincare line I've used has over the course of months/ years.
4. The spa's environment is quaint and cozy, and exactly what you want when you are being pampered. It's in her home...and while I may have hesitated at first, you'd be astonished how she has built this little sanctuary for you to escape. Actually, it's the personal service in a home-based business that I now prefer. You're not in an assembly line or cattle line waiting to be called back when it's your turn, only to have superficial conversation about your day with an esthetician who has already worked on 11 people and has 6 more after you. I felt so welcomed into her space, comforted and cared for by a true expert.
5. The other reviewer that commented on Rene's "love of her work" is so right. It's apparent simply by the vast knowledge she possesses. She has worked on some of the most powerful faces in entertainment (and not because she touts that...actually, not whatsoever. I had to pry it out of her because she's so humble.)
I'd highly recommend Spa Lavender and services by the owner Rene Krow to anyone who is seeking spa services. Don't waste your money at a factory spa. Instead, pay for a private, expert treatment by a true professional. You'll never go anywhere else.

I have been to spas around the world, though was limited in my 'Facial' treatment experience. My day spent with Rene Krow was amazing... Seriously as tranquil and therapeutic as any massage, reflexology or other such spa experience as I have ever had. My appointment included several skin treatments including a peel, microdermabrasion, extraction and an amazing hot-stone shoulder, arm and neck rub. The pricing was super fair and actually for what you get was a great deal. I do not have problematic skin and I was still amazed at how much more of a glow my face had, for days after my appointment! It is no wonder Rene was recognized as one of the top therapists in LA for all those years (I read the articles hanging on the wall!). Do yourself a favor and spend a few hours with her- the best spa experience I have ever had in Northern Virginia, and maybe even the world!
